| So Maui was fabulous!!
We did all kinds of neat stuff like snorkeling with sea turtles and fish, and watching the sun rise on a volcano before biking down the volcano, attended an authentic luau, and hung out on the amazing Wailea beach which was right outside our condo. The sea turtles were nice, awesome to watch! And I thought having hundreds of fish swimming around me would freak me out, but it totally didnt. Volcano was fun, but COLD at 4am.
We also flew to the island of Oahu to go to Pearl Harbor. Totally worth the trip. We also went to the Dole Plantation while on Oahu, as well as stop in Honolulu and Waikiki beach. Honestly, I don't know why Waikiki beach is one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Cause it's gross. It reminds me of the really gross New Jersey beaches...that are super crowded and has litter all over it. So in conclusion, Maui is def the better island to visit...less crowded and nicer beaches, but Oahu has Pearl Harbor and Dole Pineapples!!
We had to come home one day early because of Hurricane Felicia. Our flight on Monday was cancelled on Sunday, so we got on a plane Sunday night. I was bummed, but I guess it's cool because I really didnt want to be on an island during a hurricane. Its freaky. Like, in the mainland US, people can just drive inland for a hurricane....but if you live on a Hawaiian island...you cant go anywhere, you just have to ride it out.
Also, I got half tan, half burnt. My top half tanned. My legs burnt to a crip. SO bad. Lol. Like, it's so bad that my one knee is PURPLE. Not red...purple.

| So I leave at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow for Hawaii. (literally, the ass crack of dawn...flight LEAVES at 630am. So we'll prob leave my house at 4. I'm pretty pumped! I'm super anxious about the flight though...just gotta get through that. It's a total of 12 hours...4 to Phoenix, and then 8 from Phoenix to Maui. The 8 hour one will be my longest flight ever. CA is a 6 hour flight and I've done that several times...and I know 8 is only 2 more than 6, but I seriously want my dad to get me a valium so I make it.
We have cool stuff planned. We're doing snorkeling, going to a luau, and doing this bike thing where a bus picks you up at 3 am, and drives you to the top of a volcano in volcano nat'l park. And then you bike down the volcano at sunrise. We're also flying from Maui to Hawaii one day to do to Pearl Harbor. That was my call. I didn't want to all the effing way to Hawaii and not see Pearl Harbor. It's a 50 min plane ride. It's so crazy to me how far away the islands are from each other...thats 30 min less than how long it takes me to fly to Boston, which is 550 miles away. Crazy!
I'm also nervous, I applied to several jobs recently, and I'm afraid that while I'm gone for over a week, they'll all email me and I won't have access to internet. THIS is why I wish I had an iPhone or Blackberry, for reasons such as this. Not that they'll write to me, because they probably won't. But still...if they did, that'd suck because I wouldn't get it until the 12th.
And finally, at work today, one of the 16 year old girls I worked with told me she wished she had my life. This made me feel weird. Like...WHY would she want my life?! I'm a 23 year old college grad who can't get a job ever, is almost 1.5 yrs out of school and has yet to have even 1 small job. I work in a job that high schoolers do and hate everyday of it. I had to give up living in LA to move back home because of said reason and money. Why would she want it? I'm miserable. She said it was because "I've lived in so many cool places" and I've seen the entire country, and I had the freedom to just drive across the country 4 times. And this made me think...yeah I guess when you're 16, it sucks to be stuck in one place. Dunno, it made me feel weird. I feel like this girl idolizes me...she's always asking me questions about my life. And I'm embarassed to talk about it, but she's always so interested. | | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| So I decided to close my Bank of America account. I opened it in CA, since it was the biggest bank there. I liked the idea of it, because they advertise BOA as "being everywhere". When I was moving back east, I made sure to stop in to my local BOA and ask about it. The guy I met with assured me that there were several BOAs in the Pittsburgh area, and so I didn't close my account. Well, that guy LIED, which I realized as soon as I got here. Asshole. If you do a search for BOA banks with my zip code, 15238...a result comes back that says "no banking centers within 100 miles". Great.
Still, I wanted to keep my BOA account, since it is almost everywhere else, and since I'm at an age when I'm moving around, it'd be good to have BOA since its a very portable bank. I decided to keep my account active, I'd sign up for direct deposit through work. FAIL. BOA didn't accept it because it wasn't in CA. Apparently, BOA has two systems...one for the entire USA except CA, and one for just CA. Therefore, any BOA in CA is entirely separate from any other state. Which means even if there WERE BOAs here, I wouldn't be able to deposit into my account, since you can only deposit into CA accounts in CA. Even though I changed the address on my account, it doesn't matter because it was opened in CA. Would've been great if the ASSCLOWN employee in CA had told me all this before I left.
So I decide I'm done with this shit, and I just want my account closed and my money back so I can put it in my other bank account here. I call BOA customer service. They tell me that closing an account is easy, and that they can just send me my money in a check from them. Easy enough. BUT NO...they CANT close it. I have to call the special CA customer service and have them close it. Of course. So I wait another 2 hours until the CA customer service center opens, call them, and then I'm told that they CANT close my account over the phone. When I mention that the rest of the USA cust. service guy told me it was easy to close my account over the phone and get a check, they say "well we're on the CA system, and the CA system can't close anything over the phone that has a balance in it".
So I have two options. I was told that I could either spend all the money in my bank account and then close it over the phone, or I could WRITE THEM A LETTER with my account number, Social Security number, address, etc. and they'd close my account as soon as they get the letter and mail me a check. WTF now? I don't want to spend all my money from my BOA account (much less all my savings), but I don't want to put all my vital info in the mail. If someone, anyone really opened it...there's enough info in there for my identity to be stolen SUPER easy.

| Got lunch with Robyn yesterday. I missed her. We talked a lot about her wedding...she's super excited, which is awesome. It's so nice to see someone so excited over something! Its next Oct. and I can't wait to go! It is weird though to have my friends start to get married...
Not much else going on. I'm getting a haircut today...which is really needed. And I leave for Hawaii a week from today. I'm starting to freak about packing. I hate packing for trips...even though I consider myself a pretty efficient packer. But I feel like I need to bring so much for a 9-day trip in which I need stuff for so many different things.
Also, I want to bring 4 cameras. And my family thinks I'm crazy. But not really...they're all for different things! I want to bring my manual film camera because film has always (and will always!) be better than digital...especially for landscapes, and I want to bring a high-speed film like 1600 for the luau we're going to. I want to bring my Nikon D60 because it's a Nikon D60. And I bought an underwater disposable camera for snorkeling. Me: ...no, I just want to reschedule it to the next day.
DOR: Ok so you want me to make the appointment on the Tuesday instead of the Monday.
Me: yes please.
DOR: ...so you're canceling the appointment.
Me: no.....I'm just moving it to Tuesday instead of Monday.
DOR: (long pause) ...but you're canceling the Monday appointment.
Me: ...or moving it until Tuesday...yes.
DOR: But you're not coming in on Monday?

| I think I need to invest in sleep aides. Really. I can't ever fall asleep, and then when I finally do, I wake up all night long. Like, tiny noises wake me up ALL THE TIME. And I never feel rested. Anyone have any suggestions?
Also, my mom started this weird diet in which she only eats one meal per day. The rest of her "meals" are special diet shakes. It sounds stupid, but she's dropping weight like crazy. Then she makes me feel bad about myself. She doesnt think I eat healthy and I'm gaining weight. You ever been having a convo with someone, and you can see them look down and check you out? Not like check you out, but you notice them looking at you and judging you? She does that. I'm not THAT bad with food. Seriously. It's not like I'm pigging out on cake everyday. Usually the only junk food I eat on a regular basis is I like to buy Hershey bars and after dinner, I have 3 of the little rectangles from a bar. Is that THAT bad?
And finally, AJ just got back from his CISV Camp in Brazil. I missed him. He changed a lot. And I'm jealous because he's 15 and he's more accomplished than me. I hope my camp in Brazil happens this winter, but I'm pretty sure it won't. It'll be just like everything else in my life...disappointment topped off with countless failures.

| So we got a new manager at work. He's a diiiiick. And not only is he a dick, but he's a passive aggressive dick. Like, he's super nice when you work with him, but then he goes and does dick things when no-one's watching.
So he's been doing things like scheduling people when they request off. He does it to everyone...its like he doesn't even read the request off book. Then I got my schedule for next week, and I saw that I was only scheduled for four hours total. WTF. I usually work 20-25. When I confronted him and asked to know why this happened, he responded "I didn't have time to do the schedule, so I just let the computer do it." So essentially, I took this to mean that he doesn't give a shit, and therefore just lets the computer do the schedule, and doesn't look at the requests off, and doesnt care if someone gets no hours. What a dick.
I just KNOW that when I go away for 14 days in August (to Hawaii and then to Philly for Josh & Pete's big concert...one right after the other) that I'll be scheduled the whole time. I just know it. And he's gonna tell me what he tells everyone else who he schedules when they requested off, which is "just find someone to cover it". Easier said then done old man. I work with a bunch of 16 year olds...they NEVER want to take shifts. No, if I'm scheduled for ANY of those 14 days, I'm gonna go right up to him and say that NO, I will NOT find people to cover for me. HE can do that. I requested off and got this vacation approved back in May. So he can go fuck himself.

| HP6 was a BLAST.
They gave out free posters and I met awesome people. We waited on line and then got into the theater around 10:30 or so. This group of like...20 high schoolers sat all around us. They were ALL dressed up in these FANTASTIC costumes. I sat next to Harry and Dobby (yes, someone wore a home-made Dobby costume), and there was also Hermione, Ron, Tonks and Lupin, Bellatrix, Ginny, Cho, 2 Luna Lovegoods, Draco, Snape, and I could go on and on...these ppl must've planned for weeks on their costumes, they were so good. I only was able to get a photo of Harry and Dobby, and I never learned their real names. I awkwardly was like "I know I don't know you but can I take your picture" Haha. They also sang songs, like the Hogwarts song and Double Toil and Trouble and started chants like Weasly is our king! and also had wizard duels in the theater aisle. THEN like...20 min before the movie started, a guy comes in dressed like Dumbledore. The whole theater errupts in cheers and claps and he goes and sits with the awesome group near me.
Those people made my night. So awesome.
Movie was excellent. I really want to know what film stock they shot on. REALLY. They did leave a LOT of the book out of this one...but I suppose that always happens. Although certain things are going to be really hard to put in the next movie since they left them out of this one. Important things too...hmmmmm. Anyone who's read the books know what stuff I'm talking about and have thoughts?!
Excellent movie. Six was always my favorite book...now my fave HP movie.
